Visit to the Budapest University of Technology and Economics, Faculty of Civil Engineering from 18 to 21 June 2024.

Assoc. Prof. Ivo Haladin visited the Faculty of Civil Engineering at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics. During his visit, he had the opportunity to present the URITMIS project at the workshop Innovative Condition Monitoring Solutions for Urban Rail Transit Systems: Exploring Collaborative Opportunities, held on 18 June 2024. In his presentation, he outlined the project’s objectives, shared updates on its current progress, and discussed the ongoing activities associated with the initiative. The visit also provided a valuable platform for academic exchange, fostering collaboration and discussions on potential future joint research opportunities.

Outbound mobility to the Poznan University of Technology

Krešimir Burnać, project research team member, visited Poznan University of Technology on a month-long academic mobility from 10th September to 11th October 2024 . The research conducted during the mobility was aimed at studying the causes and effects of increased noise and vibrations levels caused by rail surface irregularities and defects, which are one of the major issues in urban areas due to their negative impact on ride comfort, infrastructure, and nearby residents. The mobility provided an excellent chance to present the URITMIS project to fellow colleagues from similar scientific areas and discuss future collaboration.  The research focused on rail corrugation as a common track irregularity, investigating its occurrence, impact, and the best methods for identification and evaluation using both direct and indirect measurements, including vibro-acoustic data from tramway vehicles. The mobility was divided into three phases: overview, measurement campaign, and results analysis, with the goal of offering the skills and procedures required for advanced research and practical application to the research team member, which would serve as the foundation for a PhD dissertation and high-impact publication.
